What are the visible and invisible ties of love? Throughout my sustained investigation I have sought to answer this question by exploring many different facets of love including familial, romantic, and spiritual. Each piece portrays a physical connection, mostly in the use of hands, some pieces take it further to use this physical connection to demonstrate invisible love. Holding Hands and Wedding Vows are reflections of personal relationships around me. There is the interlocking of hands and then the reminder of love and connection with wedding rings, both visible ties to love. A piece exploring invisible love is Hands of Prayer for The Eyes of God. I hope to portray the idea of a visible display of love by using a rosary but also the implied concept of God’s unconditional yet invisible love for the worshiper. During my process I have taken time to contemplate the love around me if it is visible or not. I have looked closer into my relationships and beliefs trying to find examples important enough for me to create in my art. I work to understand more of myself and hopefully connect to viewers in reflections in their own ties of love.
